Outstanding Artists

Theatre
Ryan Morgan, Jake Rhodes, Adrielle Watson

Ryan is a member of the improv team here at LHS, involved in all play productions this year in substantial roles, and a great scene writer. The crazy characters he creates in improvs are hysterical. His positive attitude and creativity has enlivened many a rehearsal. His rendition of the lead role of Grandpa in You Can’t Take It With You was memorable.

Jake Rhodes is also a positive force in the theatre arts department. Multi-talented with different characters and voices, or offstage running rail or building set pieces, he is indispensable. He blends the art of acting, directing and stage technology to make the performing and visual aspects reach a higher standard.  A transfer student from Arcadia High School, he quickly become an asset and has been embraced by our theatre arts family.

Adrielle Watson, as a sophomore, has become a Stage Manager Extraordinaire. She knows the artistic aesthetic value of timing for a full length drama production, as well as other auditorium productions. This is due to her knowledge of the role of the actor/director and the understanding of the many backstage disciplines (set, props, lights, sound, stage crew.) Her dedication, high expectations for production values make her an incredible asset to the department.

Dance
Tamara Nieraeth is a sophomore in the ARTS Academy and a first year member of the dance team.  She is an excellent choreographer and performer.  In her piece " I Am Titanium" she has done an beautiful job of layering her movement and using the entire space.  Her theme, movement and performance is full of passion.  Tamara is also a member of the small dance team.

Kinestics
Amy Hookey is a very competitive student who works hard each and every day.  Has the fastest time in class on the mile for girls and probably 2nd or 3rd overall.  Just a great student who is always helpful.  Will pass the Fitness gram test with flying colors.

Stage Technology
Jennifer Roman (Junior) is in her second year of Stage Technology classes and is the Vice President of the Stage Crew club.  This year she has really stepped into a leadership role by training her classmates on equipment, helping them understand the art of running a show and encouraging a creative collaboration on design projects.  She has absolutely earned the respect of her peers and will be taking on a major role as the stage manager for the upcoming Mr & Ms. Lancer competition. Jennifer consistently shows a great passion for dance, music, the arts, technology and an interest in the fusing of all disciplines to make one complete production.  She has a bright future ahead of her and we are really looking forward to the next chapter in her story.

Graphic Design
Heather Morgan is super creative and motivated Elements of Design student.. She is a self starter but also not afraid to ask for help to make sure she delivers the best product. She is earning an A in Elements of Design and it is also fun to see what she will design next.

Christopher Lopez is an outstanding Graphic Design student.  Chris is a third year student who is an over achiever on every assignment he completes.  His design and computer skills are far above the other students in the class and he continually strives to increase his abilities.  Chris is a very polite and professional young man who will be successful in whatever pathway in life he chooses.  Chris won the poster contest last year that Mr. Jimenez put on for the "Race To The Top."  Chris is a good example of what a student should be both academically and socially.

Arts & Animation
Aliya Laury is a creative and independently thinking ARTS Academy student who has taken the initiative in exploring the capabilities of our digital medium

Theatre
Abbey Rhodes, Tori Rodger, Aurelio DeAnda Jr.
All three are Drama club officers. They are also stepping up to leadership roles (student director/producer in our first production of the year, “and stuff” by Peter Dee.  They will also be founding members of the newly reinstated Thespian Society chapter here at LHS. In addition, they are part of the LHS Improvisation Team.

Kinesiology
ISABEL OCHOA is an outstanding student in Mrs. Malchiodi's intro to kinesiology class.  She is an extremely hard worker who always puts in 100% effort.  She asks questions and strives to learn even more about the subject matter being taught.  Isabel leads group work and helps others in class when they are struggling.  Congratulations Isabel!  Keep up the hard work!

Instrumental Music
Victor Ochoa
VIctor is a sophomore in the Instrumental Music Department. He plays in the Band, Jazz Band, and Orchestras here at LHS and came into the program already a strong saxophone player, but also has a strong interest in learning other instruments. Victor also recently took it upon himself to arrange a song  for the entire marching band and he wrote the parts for all the instruments himself.

Choral Music & Guitar
Daniel Richardson:is a senior who became really turned on to music in his junior year when he joined the Marching Band.  Since then he has also participated in Jazz Band, the pit orchestra for Cinderella, Orchestra, Guitar class, and Concert Band.  Not only have these experiences been the best of his life, but they have also inspired him to pursue a major and career in music.  His goal is to become a music major at USC to continue his education and training and continue broadening his experience in the musical art.

Brittany Jarvis is a junior who is involved in Concert Choir (3 years), Madrigals, and Dance (2 years) at LHS.  She says that the opportunities to sing with others and also sing solo for her classmates in choir has helped her to open up and have more confidence as a performer.  Her goal is to attend a college for the performing arts, where she can develop her singing and dancing and explore careers in the music industry.  She has particular interest in Canada and the United Kingdom, and would love to travel to those areas.

Michael Washington is a senior in his fourth year of choral music in Concert Choir and his second as an LHS Madrigal Singer.  He is currently the Choir Co- President, has been a leader in the choir both officially and by example, and was also in the cast of Cinderella.   He is also currently a Lakewood Link Leader.  Michael can always be found listening and singing along to music on his iPod, and he says that his time in LHS Concert Choir and Madrigals are the best memories of his high school career.
