LANCER SECTION

 

MAKE-UP HOMEROOM REP. MEETING – Make-up Homeroom Rep. Meeting on Monday, Sept. 24th.  1st period classes please send a  representative to send to the auditorium at the beginning of class.

 

YOU HAVE ONE WEEK TO TURN IN YOUR SERVICE LEARNING HOURS - Juniors and Seniors, you can still earn Service Learning Hours for awards.  All Summer and September Hours are due to Miss Gildon in the College and Career Center by next Friday, September 28th.

 

ROAD TO COLLEGE WORKSHOP TOMORROW - Rio Hondo College is hosting college and financial aid workshops tomorrow from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm to get students ready for the September 29th College Prep Fair.  Check School Loop for more information.

 

SIGN-UP FOR THE PSAT IN THE COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER AT LUNCH ON MONDAY - Register for the PSAT in Room 332 on Monday at lunch and pick up your PSAT Guide Book.

 

STUDENTS NEEDING ASSISTANCE - From the counseling office, nurse's office, or to obtain early outs, readmits & attendance print-outs, need to enter through the outside doors at the counseling/banker's area. 

 

VARSITY FOOTBALL VS WILSONHS - Here at Lakewood HS, today, 9/21/12.  Game starts at 7:00pm.  Student pre-sale tickets on sale at the Banker's office for $3.00.  ASB stickers will be admitted for free.  You must have your card.  Tickets at the game cost $8.00 for adults and students w/o IDs.  Children, students with IDS and senior citizens are $4.00.

 

ACTIVITIES CARDS – Please pick up your ASB card ASAP at the Activities Office. If you plan to attend this Friday’s home game, there will NOT be a list so you will need your ASB card to enter.

 

NO BULLYING CAMPAIGN AT LUNCH – Next Wednesday, September 26th during lunch we will have a no bullying rally, so be there or be square.

 

FREE, FREE , FREE PSAT EXAM - For 10th and 11th graders on Saturday October 20th 7:45am - 11:15 am at Lakewood High!  This will help you prepare for the SAT.  Register online at www.lbschools.net/psat  by September 27th.

 

SHARP APPLICATIONS – Are due today, September 21st at the ASB office.

 

 

SUMMER SERVICE LEARNING HOURS ARE DUE BY SEPTEMBER 28TH - Remember Juniors and Seniors, you can still earn Service Learning Hours for awards.  There will be deadlines every month so make sure that you turn your Service Learning Logs in on time to the College and Career Center in Room 332.  All Summer and September Hours are due to Miss Gildon by Friday, September 28th.

 

THE FOLLOWING WORK-BASED LEARNING CLASSES (WBL) ARE STILL OPEN - Careers With Children class  3rd and 4th  periods   10-15 credits: Students will explore working as an aide in either a preschool or elementary classroom ;School-Age Care  class    6th period or 7th (M/W 3-5:30)   5-10 credits:Students will have fun working in an after-school program at an elem or middle school; (WRAP, LB Parks and Rec, Boy’s & Girls Club)

Co-Op Food Service Business Careers  class 0 period      Mon/Tues     10-15 credits:Students should have a job in a restaurant, fast food, grocery store, food retail store or theater!; Co-op Retail Service Careers Business class 7th period   Monday only!  (2:45-3:30) : Jobs leads will be given to those without a job! 

 

STUDENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CONDUCT PERSONAL BUSINESS IN THE OFFICE DURING CLASS TIME. - For example, purchasing items from banker, returning books, etc.  Please take care of these items before school starting @ 7am, during nutrition and lunch, or after school until 3pm.  Do not ask teachers for a pass to come to the office as you will be turned away without taking care of business.

 

CSF/NHS - Applications are available in the ASB office.  You must attach a report card from the Spring 2012 semester to each application turned in.  We cannot accept transcripts.  Application deadline is 3 p.m. on Friday, September 21.  Sophomores turn them in to Mrs. Wilcox in room 841.  Juniors and Seniors turn them in to Mrs. Torres in room 827.  There are new rules that say we can't accept ninth grade students until after the fall semester.

FREE SAT AND ACT PREP - Register for free at Zinch's new Prep Awards Program page at www.zinch.com/highschool.  You can get free SAT and ACT prep material and site find out about scholarships available just for you.

 

SENIOR SECTION

 

THE ACT DEADLINE IS TODAY - Register for the October 27th ACT at www.actstudnet.org.  If you qualify for free or reduced lunch, please stop by the College and Career Center by Thursday to get your fee waiver.

 

 

NEXT SAT DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 4TH - Register for the November 3rd SAT at www.collegeboard.org.  If you qualify for free or reduced lunch, please stop by the College and Career Center to get your fee waiver.
