ATM's Vision:
A literate nation not only reads; it computes, investigates and innovates.
ATM's Mission:
With a solid background in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), students will be following career paths that will offer them opportunities to study and participate in the development and use of high demand and emerging technologies.
Why ATM?
Today’s Classes, Tomorrow’s Careers
The ATM program has evolved over the years, and continues to evolve as technology changes. Because the world of technology is fluid, the ATM SLC has altered its approach in defining what applied technology magnet really means. The program’s goal is to incorporate technology into the core courses, while constantly evaluating its mix of electives to properly illustrate technology’s influence on the world of today.
Project-based Curriculum
In a changing world, it’s important that education also changes. Yes, tests are important, but being able to work in a group, do research, compose a
project and present findings is also important. The ATM SLC focuses on cross-curricular awareness, showing students how each discipline compliments the others, while mixing in the technology component to create meaningful projects that prepare students for the real world.
The Opportunity for Individualism
If students are to truly connect with their education and feel that the curriculum is relevant to them, then they should have just as much responsibility over their education as the teacher does. The ATM SLC strives to ensure students have choices in all their projects and work to allow students the opportunity to explore their interests.
ATM Advantages
The ATM SLC is college and career focused, with many extras. As a NASA explorer school, with internships with Boeing, GDEP, and JPL, ATM is always looking to expand its work-based learning opportunities. With many field trips, guest speakers and real-world simulations, students are able to explore their after high school options. Students are also supported with both an ATM student club, ATM booster club, and many teacher-sponsored interest clubs.
