Head coach Glennis Seldon would like to invite you to take part in the 2017 Cross Country Summer Training Program. The summer training is an essential part of the athlete’s success in cross country. Running as a team during the summer will provide team unity that will contribute to each athlete's success. This is an important aspect to winning as cross country is scored as a team. **All athletes must be enrolled in Lakewood High School to participate**


Summer Training Schedule

Dates:               June 19-24th (break for dead period June 26-July 16) resume July 17-Aug 30th  

Days:                Monday - Saturday

Times:             Mon 12-2:30pm, Wed 5-7pm, Fri 9-12noon, Tues/Thurs/Sat 630am-945am

Location:          Lakewood High School – Track


Summer/Fall Contribution
New Athletes: $275
Returning Athletes: $175


Contribution Includes: coaching, race entries, team banquet and the following items:
New Athletes - uniform for races, spirit pack  (t-shirt, sweater/jacket, socks/hat), backpack, warmups with name embroidered

Returning athletes – spirit pack (you are welcomed to purchase additional items if needed)

Please make checks payable to LHS XC (payment plans ARE available – please talk to us if this is an issue, we don’t want you not to run because of funds!)

Annual High Altitude Summer Camp

Dates:               Aug 7th-11th

Days:                Monday – Friday

Location:          Big Bear, CA

Cost:                $300 ALL ATHLETES ARE WELCOME (camp is optional not mandatory)

The requirement for summer participation is a completed district application, emergency card and proof of health insurance. If you do not have health insurance you will be asked to purchase the Myers Stevens insurance from the LBUSD.


Physical Exams – This is not required for summer participation but is highly recommended! All athletes will have to complete a physical exam prior to the start of the fall high school season. Please plan ahead and attempt to complete the physical exam ASAP so there is no delay of your participation in the fall. (Any athlete that has not completed all paperwork including a physical exam will not be allowed to participate in the fall until everything is complete)


Summer Dead Period


The CIF requires a dead period for three weeks during the summer this will be from June 26th – July 16th. During the dead period there will be no practices or meets. Please do your best to plan any summer vacations during the time off periods on the summer calendar.

The start of the boys & girls high school season officially begins Monday July 17th and it is mandatory that all athletes be in attendance for the first day of practice.
