                <description><![CDATA[REGULAR SCHEDULE TODAY REGULAR SCHEDULE MONDAY LANCER SECTION MADRIGAL FINAL CONCERT OF THE YEAR !- Come join us for Cafe Vocalise, the final Madrigal choir concert of the year, in an intimate nightclub setting on our auditorium stage. The show starts tonight, Friday May 24th, at 7pm. Tickets are $5 at the door, or free with ASB card. There&amp;#39;s music from Broadway, jazz, pop songs, solos, and small group performances. It&amp;#39;ll be a great show- don&amp;#39;t miss it! MADRIGAL AUDITIONS ARE HERE ! - Would you like to be a part of the Lakewood Madrigal Choir? Would you like to travel, sing at Disneyland and the LA Music Center, sing Alma Mater for your school every week, and be in one of the most fun and respected performing groups in the area? Auditions for next year&amp;rsquo;s choir take place the first week of June, and information and music packets are available now in the Activities Office. Go for it- you never know how high you can soar until you try! SENIORS -All seniors acceptedto a college or universitymust come into the counselingcenter to fill out your final transcript requestform located in the red box on the counseling counter.If you need help completing the form, ask one of the counseling clerks for assistance. Final transcripts will be available to pick up Tuesday, June 18th. College transcripts are free until August 30th. THE HISTORY DEPARTMENT - Would like to congratulate Senior Ivan Perez in winning the 2013 Woody Scholarship. His outstanding GPA, school involvement, and charisma earned him 1,000 dollars for his academic endeavors. Ivan will be attending UCLA and is a great representative of Lakewood High School. GRADUATION ANNOUNCEMENTS &amp;ndash; Available at the student store $2.50 each. Come during passing period or before school only! STUDENT STORE &amp;ndash; Is looking for a few smart and honest student workers for next school year. Get an application and try out. Why not make some money, you&amp;rsquo;re here anyway! LIBRARY BOOKS - Library Books: 9th, 10th and 11th grade studen t must return your library books by May 29th or pay for the lost book. Your schedule may be held during summer registration if you do not return your books. CLUB SECTION ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS - The ATM Booster Club is selling Jamba Juice every Tuesday after school underneath the 900 building. The cost is $4. Come and have a treat to cool off during the hot afternoons!                 <title>3rd Annual Thayer Memorial Run</title>
                <description><![CDATA[Jalen Matthew Thayer and his sister Breanna Elise Thayer passed away from a rare form of brain cancer. Breanna passed away at the age of four and Jalen passed away at the age of 15 on April 6, 2011. Jalen attended Newcomb Academy and was looking forward to attending Millikan High where his Dad Lance was the cross country coach. Jalen was an excellent runner and athlete and an awesome young man! 3rd Annual Jalen and Breanna Thayer Memorial Run for Childhood Cancer Awareness Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 8am at Patrick Henry School 3720 Canehill Avenue Long Beach You may register online at Active.com or in person at Patrick Henry If you have any questions you may email Thayer006@aol.com We would appreciate donations of cases of water, gatorade, granola bars or fruit snacks that will be used for the runners at the memorial race. We would also appreciate any gift cards that you would like to donate. We will be using them for the raffle at the memorial run. We will be accepting all donations on Friday, June 7 from 4 - 7pm right in front of the Patrick Henry main office. We will be registering runners and walkers for the race at this time too.                 <title>Junior and Senior Athletes - Start Planning for College Now (NCAA and NAIA)</title>
                <description><![CDATA[If you plan to participate in Division I or Division II sports in college, it&amp;#39;s important that you read the Guide for the College-Bound Student-Athlete. This guide can be found at the link below. It covers such topics as academic eligibility, amateur status, registration with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)eligibility center, and financial aid and recruiting rules. Eligibility and registration requirements are complex and subject to change, so be sure to read the guide andfollow all the rules and regulations. The main website for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA ) is andthe National Collegiate Athletic Associate (NAIA) is . All prospective Division I and Division II athletes must also be certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center. Go tothe link belowand follow the directions on how to be certified. If you get free or reduced lunch, you can stop by the College and Career Center to get a fee waiver for the NCAA Clearinghouse. You will also need to send the scores from your standardized tests to the Center. When you register to take the SAT or ACT, send your scores to the Center at code 9999. If possible, register during your junior year. After junior year, send a transcript to the Center. If you are applying to a Division III school, you should contact that school regarding its policies on admissions, financial aid, practices, and competitions.
